Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the Eagle Valley complex located?
Directly across the street from the campus near the entrance to the King Community Center. The address for Eagle Valley is 150 and 151 Eagle Valley Rd., Cedar Bluff, VA 24609. The address for the Midway apartments is 2491 Wardell Rd. Cedar Bluff, VA 24609.
What is the style of the units?
Midway Apartments are in the style of townhomes. Eagle Valley has two three-story apartment buildings with six units in each.
Will they be furnished?
The units will come with kitchen appliances and a washer/dryer. The common areas are furnished with a table and chairs and a couch. In Midway, bedrooms are furnished with beds only. Bedrooms in Eagle valley include beds, desks, desk chairs, and lockable dressers.
How long is the Lease?
A standard lease is 10 Months. Leases typically begin and end in alignment with the semester schedules of SWCC.
Will I have my own room?
Rooms are single- or double-occupancy (meaning that two students share a room and bathroom).
Single occupancy rooms are $750 each and you would have your own bedroom.
Double occupancy rooms are $500 each student and you would share a bedroom.
How many units are available?
Eagle Valley can house up to 96 students and Midway can house up to 8 students.
Who is allowed to rent/live in these units?
These units will be available to all SWCC students.
How will each house/unit be assigned?
Two students will be assigned to each bedroom (in double-occupancy rooms). The units will be assigned in a single gender fashion where/when possible, but with private beds/baths, it is likely there will be units where females and males will be assigned sharing the same common areas.
Is parking available?
Parking spaces are provided near each building on a first-come first-serve basis.
Are pets allowed?
No, we are unable to accommodate any animals due to space restrictions and potential allergy concerns.
May I sublease?
No
Will there be rules?
Just like any other apartment complex and rental agreement, there will be written rules and standards that if not followed can result in eviction. Our policy manual is on this website.
What about utilities?
Sewage, water, electricity, trash pickup, and internet is included in the monthly rent. The utilities will be metered at each unit and will be subject to additional charges should there be excess usage.
What does it cost? Will financial aid and/or scholarships cover expenses?
The monthly cost will be $750 per person in a single room or $500 per person in a double room for a 10-month lease. Financial aid and scholarships at SWCC DO NOT cover these costs directly. You will be responsible for paying your housing expenses. Any monies received from financial aid or scholarships will be paid from the college directly to you at a date determined by the college.
Will I get a space?
These units are highly desirable. However, with only 104 total spaces, we anticipate we'll not be able to accommodate every student that is interested. You should submit a free rental application to be considered for a space.
Is transportation provided to and from campus?
We do not have in-house transportation, but Four County Transit stops at Eagle Valley three times per day during the week.
